As a component of your Resort Entry fee the MHRMB provides a free shuttle bus service that operates within the village to move people from the car parks and from the Davenport accommodation area to the central village and ski slopes.
The service, provided by Alpine Spirit, operates a fleet of 81 person capacity Mercedes Benz buses that feature double doors at the front and rear for improved load and unload times. The service operates daily from 0645 to 0145. In designated peak times (which are defined as 0800-1000 and 1630-1800 during busy periods such as school holidays and weekends) up to seven buses will run with waiting times of 5-10 minutes between buses.
The nearest bus stop to Eumarellah is Bus Stop 8 situated directly below Tanderra ski lodge. Over summer improvements have been made at bus stop 8 uphill, including new stairs.
Snow chains must be carried when travelling to Mt Hotham in winter and fitted where directed. 4WD’s are often not required to fit chains. Chains can be hired in Harrietville, Bright and Omeo. A chain hire and fitting service also operates on both approaches on the Great Alpine Road.
Speed limits are in place on the Great Alpine Road and are frequently enforced. In addition, for 2019, 20kph speed restrictions have been implemented around bus stop 2 (Arlberg) and bus stop 10 near Whitey’s carpark, in response to concerns about pedestrian safety. Please be aware of these new restrictions and the 40kph speed limit in the rest of the village. Enforcement will be carried out throughout the season, with special focus on peak periods.
Current road conditions can be obtained from the Mount Hotham website or by calling the Mt Hotham Alpine Resort Management office on 03 5759 3550 during business hours.
